Joseph Seeley ||
U7/8 Boys/Girls Developmental Team Head Coach
Coaching education: USSF E license, NSCAA Regional and Advanced Regional diplomas, and the NSCAA National Youth Diploma.
Coaching background: I have followed
my sons into soccer and have been coaching youth soccer since 2000,
from "micro soccer" through U11, with the YMCA, the Champaign Park
District, and mostly LISC. In an earlier life, I coached high school
cross-country and track in Connecticut. In my last year in that
position, my girls cross-country team won the New England independent
school championship.
Athletic background: I had a few
negative experiences with organized youth sports and did not become
seriously involved again until I was a senior in high school, when I
went out for cross-country and track and had far more positive
experiences. I continued running in college and had some more success,
including a school record for the 800-meter run as a college senior. I
am now a recreational runner and pickup soccer player.
Philosophy: I am grateful that a high
school track coach talked me into giving sports another try, because
being an athlete has been a valuable part of my life ever since. My job
now is to teach the fundamentals of soccer in a way that keeps the fun
in the game so that the kids will want to play it forever.
