Minutes of LISC Executive Committee Meeting of July 19th, 1999

Present: Scott Anderson, Jill Bullington, Seamus Reilly, Rebecca Renwick, Charlie Smyth, Mike Wingo

Practice sites for fall season
Scott suggested using Johnson Park, located at the west end of John St. in Champaign, for some practices. There are currently no goals there. He will make necessary arrangements with the CPD for LISC to use this park and to have goals put up.

Girls
At present there are small numbers of girls in each age group for which we are planning to field a fall team. Seamus pointed out that this is a problem nationally and not just peculiar to our community.
In future the U18 girls season may be during the summer rather than fall.
LISC will continue to try to field a U16 girls team in the fall, using the summer as a developmental season for this team.
Some parents thought LISC and Prairie State Games tryouts were one and the same, which, predictably, created confusion.

CIYSL
There is a league meeting on August 15, which Charlie Smyth will attend.
Jon will send one check for all LISC teams to the league. Each coach should give Scott a copy of the team notification form he/she sends to the league.
E    ach coach will be responsible for handling her league paperwork (cards, rosters, etc.) for his or her team.

Club tournaments
Each team is responsible for sending in its own entry form to a tournament designated as a "club tournament", but Jon will send in one check for all LISC teams entering such a tournament. Libertyville (Oct. 9-10) has been selected as the club tournament for this fall.

Fall Cup
Scott suggested a change in use of ad book revenue. This year each team will get 100% of the funds it raises by selling ads. Our teams are not required to compete in the Fall Cup, but as it is THE club fund raiser, parents of fall season players are expected to help put the tournament on, whether their children are playing in it or not.

Camp
The U15 boys team attended camp but did not pay for it. This team was not assessed for camp as a team. Therefore, each player who attended camp owes
LISC $50.
Seamus suggested changing the camp set-up next year. He would like to run camp for 2 one-week sessions, with one week for U9 and U10 teams and one week for U11-14 teams. Camp would not be offered for older teams.

Parent reps
LISC would like to increase the number of parents actively involved with the club (or at least cognizant of how the club works and how decisions are made). To this end, it was suggested that members of the executive committee not serve as parent reps and that an individual serve as parent rep for one team only.

European trips
There are several organizations that set up soccer trips for teams wishing to play in Europe. Tours organized by such groups are "standardized" (e.g., entry in sanctioned tournaments is part of the deal) and reasonably priced. Seamus suggested that teams thinking about a European trip consider using such an organization. This would insure that each LISC team making such a trip would pay a comparable price and have a comparable experience.
