Minutes from LISC Board Meeting
June 15, 2004
7:30 pm

Present: Ron Walton, Ben Mueller, Trey Bradberry, Robert Baird, Gary Sullan, Judith Martinez, and Rick Hazlewood

  1. We reviewed an anonymous letter sent to the board and discussed the issues raised in it. However, we have no way to respond to the writer.  It was agreed that such forms of communication are inappropriate and not in keeping with club policies and processes and should be discouraged.

  2. We reviewed the procedures and processes that the Coaching Director follows in assigning the members of his staff.  It was agreed that all communication concerning dismissals and reassignments be expressed in letters and kept on file.

  3. A parent rep has requested that he be allowed to attend the board meetings. While it was viewed by some as a possible distraction and inhibitor of more open discussion, it was agreed that the current policies and by-laws be kept which actually allow parents to attend the meetings for the first thirty minutes of the meeting. It is asked that if they have anything in particular that they wish to address, that they contact the Parent Rep on the board a week ahead of time to make sure that they are included on the agenda.

  4. Due to changes in the personnel on the board, it was agreed that it will meet on the second Tuesday of the month unless a conflict causes it to be rescheduled.

  5. It was brought that some teams seem to be deviating from the standard LISC uniforms of orange jerseys, blue jerseys, blue shorts, and blue socks. While those are the norm, there are only guidelines that allow for some variations on a theme. High school teams only buy one jersey and a practice t-shirt instead of the two game jerseys and another team’s parents bought the additional shorts after buying the blue ones as owned by the rest of the club.  It was agreed that, within limits, teams should be allowed some degree of self-expression as long as the basic club colors and brand standards are maintained.  Ron Walton will draft revised wording for the Policy Manual to this effect for review and approval by the Board.

  6. Tryout needs and plans were reviewed. Once again, volunteers are needed to help with registration of the players.
